The Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation (TAHDCO) has launched a promising initiative aimed at empowering youths from the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities. In collaboration with a private firm, TAHDCO is inviting applications for skill development courses specifically tailored for the textile sector. This initiative was announced by Madurai District Collector P Akash, highlighting the corporation's commitment to enhancing employment opportunities for underrepresented groups.

The skill development programs on offer include a four-month 'Diploma in Textile Industry Course' and a 'Certificate in Textile Painting, Dyeing & Printing Course'. These courses are designed to provide participants with comprehensive industry-relevant skills, making them competitive in the job market. To qualify for these programs, candidates must have completed their Class 12 education, be aged between 18 and 35 years, and belong to families with an annual income under Rs 3 lakh. This initiative underscores TAHDCO’s focus on inclusivity and economic upliftment.

The selected candidates will undergo training in Coimbatore, a hub for the textile industry, ensuring they gain practical, hands-on experience. TAHDCO has also announced that it will fully sponsor the hostel expenses for these candidates, removing financial barriers that might otherwise prevent deserving youths from accessing these opportunities.

Upon successful completion of the courses, participants will not only receive certifications but also benefit from placement assistance provided by the training partner. This strategic move is aimed at bridging the gap between education and employment, enabling certified youths to secure jobs with starting salaries ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000 per month. This initiative is a significant step towards socio-economic empowerment of SC/ST communities, providing them with the tools needed to build sustainable careers in the textile industry.
