Everest Medicines secures exclusive rights to develop and commercialize Bejescin® in the Asia-Pacific, marking a significant step in its nephrology and autoimmune disease portfolio.
In a strategic move to bolster its presence in the Asia-Pacific market, Everest Medicines has secured exclusive rights for the development and commercialization of Bejescin® (MIL62, Obinutuzumab beta Injection). This agreement with Beijing Mabworks Biotech Co., Ltd. extends to Southeast Asia, India, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and several other regions, including Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan.
The agreement stipulates that Everest Medicines will make an upfront payment of RMB 23 million to Mabworks, with additional sales milestone payments potentially reaching RMB 186 million. Bejescin® stands as a third-generation anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody, first approved in China for neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). It holds the distinction of being the first CD20 antibody worldwide approved for NMOSD. The drug is also under Priority Review by the National Medical Products Administration for primary membranous nephropathy (PMN), with the potential to become the first approved targeted therapy for PMN globally. Additionally, it is undergoing Phase III trials for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and follicular lymphoma (FL), highlighting its expansive therapeutic scope.
