In a bold move to redefine chipmaking, Chinese electronic design automation (EDA) firms are aligning with Huawei's revolutionary Tau Scaling Law. This innovative approach pivots from the traditional Moore's Law, which focuses on shrinking transistors, to compressing signal travel time across a chip system. By doing so, it aims to enhance chip performance without relying on advanced Western lithography equipment, often limited by US sanctions.

Empyrean Technology, a leading Chinese EDA provider, became the latest to endorse this methodology. The announcement came on the heels of a breakthrough at Peking University, where researchers unveiled a prototype EDA tool employing a 'true-3D' approach compatible with Huawei's LogicFolding architecture. This advancement marks a significant stride towards developing competitive chip technology independently of Western technological restrictions.
